To the editor:

I'm immensely grateful for Dr. Grinspun's piece cited as "Nurses' Union", two days ago.

Dr. Grinspun has, of course, first-hand knowledge of addictions as a health issue--and the research and evidence base supporting harm reduction interventions.

And she has made the Ford government's intention on this one blatantly obvious: substance misusers are surplus baggage, have no human rights to health services, and should just die and get it over with.

The most dispossessed, the most marginalized, the most under-served or poorly-served--meh--disposable.

These human beings, these CITIZENS, these children, parents, partners, friends--meh--disposable.

Ford et al are unreachable and will not change.

But we can demand change. We can refuse to accept this disposable approach to brother and sister members of our community.

Will we?

Kathleen Kilburn
