“We all have a hunger for learning new things about travel.”

Mary Beth Caliciuri is the manager of Expedia Cruises North Bay, and she has spent the last six years working with residents to help them plan their globetrotting dreams.

Located at 1867 O’Brien Street, the North Bay branch of Expedia Cruises only opened in June 2022, but the team has spent the last two-and-a-half years integrating themselves into the community.

“Recently, we had a celebrity cruise night, which was called ‘Sail Like a Celebrity,’ at Gateway City Brewery,” Caliciuri said.

Expedia has also participated in the North Bay Wedding Show for the past three years, as well as the Powassan Fall Fair.

“We try to get ourselves out into the community, sharing our voice, our passion for travel, and all that we offer to the North Bay region,” Caliciuri said.

Alongside their cruises, Expedia North Bay also helps customers with land tours, all-inclusive vacations, flights, hotels and land tours.

Caliciuri said a big part of what the team does is create a “seamless experience” for clients so that the vacation “is not only planned, but curated.”

One of the many positive aspects about booking through Expedia is their exclusive stateroom pricing, which is more cost-friendly than clients booking by themselves or directly through the supplier.

“We can offer not only price benefits, but knowing that you’ve got someone that you can reach out to, to help you make decisions, organize, time out, so that all you have to do is go and experience the vacation rather than having to stress about the details,” Caliciuri said.

In the last three years, Caliciuri has seen an uptick in the need for travel consultants.

“The demand of people wanting to take those bucket list vacations, travelling with their families more than ever, multi-generational trips,” she said. “And it’s great to see, or be able to help these travellers take their trips with not only mom and dad, but grandma and grandpa.”

Currently, Expedia Cruises North Bay is looking for people to join their team.

“We would love to have anyone who has a passion for travel and is looking for either, I call it ‘funtirement,’ or an additional career on top of the regular job. We are encouraging people to come in and hear about what a career in travel would look like for them,” Caliciuri said.
