For the third straight year, the start of fall means baseball in North Bay.

On Saturday the third annual Baseball Day in the Bay is taking place at Veteran's Field.

The event will feature youth baseball and softball capped off with adult programming to end the day.

Jacob Brown, the event organizer, also points out they are playing the fall games for a worthy cause.

"Once again, the focus of the festival will be on supporting the North Bay Food Bank while giving players a final opportunity to play organized baseball this season," Brown explained.

"The North Bay Men's Baseball League, along with the North Bay Baseball Association and the North Bay Minor Girls Softball Association, are excited for a great event that will benefit all who are involved both on and off of the field."

Last year North Bay Baseball community amassed 2,181 pounds for the North Bay Food Bank along with a cheque for $2,718.

The youth events will go on throughout the day with a skills event taking place between 5 and 6 p.m.

At 6 the NBMBL and MBMGSA teams will clash for a unique display of softball versus baseball.

The night will finish off with some men's league banana ball with the first pitch set for 8 p.m.
