The Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) brought the holiday spirit to campus on Tuesday.
Nipissing and Canadore students were invited to attend the Holiday Hoopla event in the shared cafeteria to give them a much-needed break from assignments and studying.
Stations were set up that included a colouring station, writing Christmas cards, gingerbread house decorating, and photos with Santa.
J’aime Brunet, NUSU VP Services said, “This is the third year that we have run this event and every year we get a great response from the campus community. Our students really enjoy philanthropic events as they are able to relax and also give back."
Dennis Chippa, Executive Director of The Gathering Place, dressed up as Santa to take photos with attendees. Donations from the photos will be going to the Gathering Place.
Participants also wrote Christmas cards, which will be delivered to patients on Christmas Day by the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation.
"This is a stressful time of year as exams are approaching and so it is a great study break for everyone", Nipissing student Zach Pecore stated. "It's a great feeling to be able to participate in an event that helps others."
