LETTER: Stop Ford's huge private spa at Ontario Place

'It is estimated that every taxpayer in the province will pay at least $65 so that a foreign-owned private spa can have an underwater parking lot'
20210705 Ford Water's Edge

To the editor:

I am concerned about the Ontario government’s plan to build a huge private spa at Ontario Place.

It is estimated that every taxpayer in the province will pay at least $65 so that a foreign-owned private spa can have an underwater parking lot. The deal with Doug Ford’s government also includes a 99-year lease to Therme, an Austrian company, with all the details kept secret.

The plan includes removing hundreds of trees, and an environmental assessment is being deemed unnecessary for this project.

Why should any taxpayer outside of Toronto be required to pay for this foreign private spa that most of us will never use? It's a ridiculous absurdity that Doug Ford, the Emperor who's wearing no clothes, (sorry for the graphic description that eyes can now not un-see) continues to push on Ontarians outside the 905 area code.

We are voters too and we pay his wages. If we were that reckless in the private sector we would be fired.

Sincerely,

Florie Maeck
