According to the 2024 Canadian Summer Travel Outlook by Deloitte Canada, 74 per cent of Canadian respondents who were polled about their travel plans this season planned to stay in Canada on their summer road trip.
The survey also found a familiar theme: that most people are hoping to enjoy nature, such as lakes, beaches, wilderness areas and local attractions.
A poll from Abacus Data—2024 Canadians on the Move—reflected similar findings. It found that 71% of Canadians who intend to travel in 2024 will be doing so domestically, with 21% considering a staycation within their region, 44% planning to explore within their province and 45% hoping to travel outside their province yet remain within Canada.
