To the editor:
The Humane Society of North Bay provides a much-needed and caring environment for abandoned cats and dogs. With limited resources, they do a wonderful job.
That being said, I have fostered two dogs which I had to return.
The application for a dog is extensive, however, the information about the dog is minimal. The breed alone speaks volumes.
When I met with a staff member and the dog, it should have been clear we were not a match. He was too strong of a breed for me. I think that instead of rushing to find homes for the animals, the application should be matched with an animal that is suitable for the applicant and the dog.
I was heartbroken to return this last dog and I'm sure he was as well, to be returning to a cage.
