Woman who spat, threw coffee at victim charged with assault

The woman went to a business on Main Street East, where she had previously been asked to stay away

Police have charged a North Bay woman with assault after a coffee cup was used as a weapon in a confrontation.

At 6 p.m. Tuesday, a woman went to a business on Main Street East, where she had previously been asked to stay away.

"The victim confronted the accused, again asking that the accused leave the property. In response, the accused spat at and threw a cup of coffee at the victim," says a news release.

Officers arrived and arrested and charged the aggressor.

Michaela Smith, 26, of North Bay is charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault
  • Failing to comply with a probation order

Smith was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the court on January 21, 2025.
