The North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation would like you to meet someone…and give you an amazing opportunity!

The someone is Jeff Miller, and the opportunity is to have your donation to the foundation matched, at a 2:1 ratio, until December 31. Here’s the scoop…

Jeff Miller is a local man who had not one, but two heart attacks while in his mid-twenties. After successfully navigating this enormous hurdle, Jeff was able to get healthy again, marry his fiancé, and have two wonderful children.

Then, one day at work, “in the middle of responding to emails, I suddenly found myself unable to type and I could no longer form sentences. Little did I know, I was having a stroke,” Jeff recounted.

Jeff was rushed to the local Emergency Department at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, where he underwent an urgent CT scan. The results revealed he had experienced a stroke.

“Thanks to the lifesaving technology at NBRHC, I was given a fighting chance. Swift treatment significantly improves survival rates while enhancing recovery outcomes and reducing complications. That’s exactly the kind of treatment I was fortunate to receive,” Jeff explained.

Thanks to the advanced technology and expert care available at NBRHC, Jeff recovered fully from his stroke and is back to enjoying life with his family and endurance sports. But his life moving forward will include many more tests and hospital visits, as his health is monitored on an ongoing basis.

“I am hopeful that I will be able to have more and more of these tests locally,” said Jeff. “But that depends on successful fundraising for important equipment here at NBRHC.”

The NBRHC’s Nuclear Medicine Department uses SPECT/CT machines to conducts Stress Tests to detect and diagnose heart disease, as well as cancers, infection, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and more.

“Over the last year, our community has been raising funds to purchase two state-of-the-art SPECT/CT machines to help meet the growing community demand and offer new diagnostic tests,” Jeff expanded. “The total cost of these machines and the renovations required to install them, is $4.3 million.”

Thanks to the Shapiro family, all donations to the Nuclear Medicine upgrade that are received by December 31, will be matched at a 2:1 ratio. This triples the impact of every donation.

“This holiday season, please give a donation where it will do so much good for everyone in our community,” urged Jeff. “We all thank you!”
