The North Bay Police are investigating a violent assault that took place between students at Chippewa Secondary School on March 18.
A video of the incident was shared on social media.
The video shows a fight that took place on the school grounds on the south end outside Chippewa. In that video, a student was pushed to the ground by another student who stomped on the other student's head.
"The North Bay Police Service is aware of a reported incident of assault involving students at a North Bay school," stated David Woolley, Corporate Communications Officer with the North Bay Police Service.
"Our officers are currently investigating the incident. I cannot release any additional information at this time."
The Near North School Board released a statement regarding the incident.
"Near North District School Board is aware of an incident that took place on March 18 at Chippewa Secondary School," the Near North Board stated in a release.
"The incident is under investigation and will be addressed according to the board's Student Conduct Management Administrative Guideline."
The grandmother of the victim told CTV that her grandson returned to school on Thursday but was "sore and hurting."
