Huntsville OPP officers have arrested a teen who was involved in a "violent" assault at the local high school.

The attack took place yesterday just before noon.

"The investigation revealed the accused, a male student, had allegedly threatened and then assaulted another student," said Constable Ted Warman. "The victim sustained injuries that required medical care. The extent of injuries is yet to be determined."

The teen was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm, and uttering threats to cause bodily harm.

The accused was released to the care of a parent and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on May 8.

The name of the accused is not being released as per the restrictions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and to respect the privacy of the victim.

"The Huntsville O.P.P. and local schools maintain strong partnerships with the goal of keeping schools safe for students and faculty.," added Warman. "Acts of violence and bullying in our schools are unacceptable."
