Vehicle in ditch. North Bay man charged with impaired

A vehicle in the ditch leads to one person being charged with impaired and resisting arrest.

On January 31, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 11 in Temiskaming Shores.

The OPP located the vehicle and found the driver still inside. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the detachment for further testing.

Kurt WHITFIELD, 29 years of age of North Bay, was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with a demand
  • Resist Peace Officer

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. They are scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on March 4, 2025.
