Search warrant leads to arrest of multi-theft suspect

The Ontario Provincial Police arrested and charged one person with possession of stolen property after the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Field.

On January 28, officers from the North East Region Community Street Crime Unit, Emergency Response Team, and Snowmobile ATV and Vessel Enforcement Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Larocque Street, West Nipissing.

A search led to the seizure of stolen property being, a 2009 Caterpillar 256C skid steer, a home-made trailer, and two snowmobile sleighs.

Shane Kelly, 35, from Field, was arrested and charged with: 

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 - two counts
  • Failure to comply with undertaking.

Kelly was held for Bail Court, then remanded back into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 12 in North Bay.
