Police arrest and charge a driver with drug related offences after traffic stop

On November 13 at 12:47 a.m., the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle that was speeding on Highway 17, West Nipissing.

As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for possession of drugs. A search of the vehicle located cellular phones, a digital scale, and drugs suspected to be cocaine and crack cocaine, with an estimated street value of just over $58,000.00.

Eric SQUAROLO, 27 years of age, from Sudbury, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Speeding 1 - 49 km/h over posted limit
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
  • Fail to have an insurance card

The accused was held for Bail Court, then remanded back into custody, and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on November 27, 2024, in North Bay.
