Plate cam spots stolen vehicle. Occupants face drug trafficking charges

Two Ottawa residents are facing multiple charges after police stopped a stolen vehicle and seized drugs.

North Bay OPP were patrolling Highway 17 on the evening of March 23 when the Automated License Plate Recognition system detected a stolen vehicle.

Officers conducted a traffic stop, and both the driver and passenger were arrested for possession of stolen property.

During a search police seized fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, hydromorphone, and morphine, with an estimated street value of $6,500.

Also seized were:

  • five cell phones,
  • a digital scale,
  • drug packaging materials,
  • an expandable baton,
  • gift cards,
  • and $580 in cash

William Bolesreidge, 36, and Christianne Wabano, 35, were arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - hydromorphone
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - morphine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Bolesreidge was also charged with two counts of driving while under suspension, while Wabano faces two additional charges of failing to comply with a probation order.

Both remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on March 26.
