Man charged after driving on a pedestrian walkway

OPP have charged a Huntsville man with impaired driving after a motorist was caught driving on a pedestrian walkway in that town. 

It happened on November 9 at 11:16 p.m., while OPP were conducting R.I.D.E on Main Street. The driver was stopped and failed a Roadside Screening Device. The driver was taken for breath testing where it was determined he had more than 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.

Police charged Aaron Conaghan, 26 of Huntsville who was suspended from driving for 90 days and had his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Meanwhile, the next day during the noon hour police were called to a dispute on Main Street West. A woman who was leaving the scene struck an OPP vehicle and was deemed to be impaired by drugs. Karen Wilkinson, 47, of Huntsville is charged with operation while Impaired.

She was suspended from driving for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

It was a busy weekend. The Huntsville detachment responded to 112 calls for service and issued 17 traffic-related charges.

Over the course of the weekend, officers conducted 12 R.I.D.E. checkpoints.
