The North Bay Police Service arrested a 25-year-old male on multiple charges, including drug trafficking.
On Jan. 13, 2025, a member of the North Bay Police Service observed a vehicle travelling in the 800 block of Lakeshore Drive with its licence plate obscured by snow and initiated a traffic stop. The accused was found to be operating the vehicle. A strong odour of cannabis was detected in the motor vehicle and police observed burnt cannabis cigarettes easily accessible to the driver. A query by police revealed that the accused was in violation of his release order, at which point he was arrested and charged.
The accused in this incident is Shaquille Antoine, male, age 25 of Toronto, who is charged with:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Novice driver fail to surrender licence
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
- Class G1 licence holder – drive at unlawful hour
- Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver
- Dirty plate
- Fail to comply with probation order x2
- Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
Searches by police in this incident resulted in the seizure of:
- Approximately 156 suspected Percocet pills
- Over $1,200 in Canadian currency
The estimated street value of the drugs seized in this incident is approximately $1,000.
The accused in this incident was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
