55-year-old local man arrested on drug trafficking and weapon charges

The North Bay Police Service has arrested a 55-year-old man on drug trafficking and weapon charges.

On February 13, as part of an ongoing investigation, Emergency Response Team and Street Crime Unit officers executed a search warrant on a residence on McIntyre Street East. A suspect was found inside the residence and he was arrested and charged.

Searches by police resulted in the seizure of:

  • 0.5 grams of fentanyl
  • 28 bottles of methadone
  • 0.5 grams of cocaine
  • 35 oxycodone pills
  • 371 hydromorphone pills
  • 80 Clonazepam pills
  • 134 Clonidine pills
  • 250 Pregabaline pills
  • 18 Buprenorphone-Naloxone pills
  • 9 Lisdexamphetamine pills
  • 45 Oxycocet pills
  • A knife that opens with centrifugal force, which makes it a prohibited weapon
  • $2,500 in cash
  • Drug trafficking equipment

The street value of the drugs seized is approximately $6,400.

Stephen Ellis, 55, of North Bay is charged with:

  • Seven counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon

Ellis was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
