City police have charged a North Bay man with drug trafficking and weapons offences after a joint OPP raid yesterday.
At 6 p.m. the North Bay Police Service Emergency Response Team arrested the man after he left a residence on Fisher Street.
Searches by police resulted in the seizure of:
- A loaded handgun
- 77g of cocaine
- $1,200 in cash
- A battery-operated scooter
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $9,660.
Thomas John Gilks, 22, is charged with:
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Knowledge of an unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Failure to comply with an undertaking
Gilks was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
