North Bay area sports facilities will be buzzing with activity in November and December.

Tanya Bedard, executive director at Tourism North Bay believes that is great news for the region.

"We are gearing up for a very busy November and December as far as sports and group tourism events," stated Bedard.

The events start this weekend with the 70-team North Bay Junior Lakers Tournament which includes U11 to U18 age groups.  It's estimated more than 1200 players will be participating.

Bedard, says it's not just hockey that will be keeping sports facilities busy to close out 2024.

"These events are not happening all at the same venue, which speaks to the depth we have here in North Bay and that will only be amplified by Canadore's new indoor dome which has recently come online and of course with the developments of the new community centre," she stated.

"So there are definitely a lot of venues being utilized over the next couple of weeks for hosting these tournaments whether they be high school gymnasiums, hotel and conference centres, along with the tremendous athletic facility we have at Nipissing University along with the hockey arenas we have here in the city."
