A Jesse Lefebvre goal late in the second period broke a 2-2 tie as Team NOHA defeated the Don Mills Flyers 4-2 in their third game at the OHL Cup on Thursday morning.
Masen Wray and Ethan Morris had the other goals while Caden Dubreuil iced the victory with an empty net goal with less than 90 seconds left in regulation.
"I thought the boys showed a lot of character and played with a lot of heart," said Steve Polyblank, coach with Team NOHA and head coach of the New Liskeard Cubs.
"We outworked them and got rewarded from it. It was a great team effort."
U16 Trappers goaltender Kaleb Papineau got his second straight victory for Team NOHA in goal making 23 stops.
The win improves Team NOHA’s record to 2-1 with their final round robin game taking place at 8 a.m. Friday against the Vaughan Kings.
Team NOHA consists of U16 AAA players from across Northern Ontario including 10 from the North Bay U16 Trappers.
