Lakers Athletics in partnership with the Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) and 22 Wing CFB North Bay will announce the 14th annual men’s hockey Military Appreciation Night and 3rd annual women’s hockey Military Appreciation Night.

The women’s game will take place on Friday, Jan. 24, while the men’s will happen on Friday, Feb. 7, both at Memorial Gardens. The games will see Lakers don camouflage uniforms which will be auctioned off through a silent auction and presented to the winning bidder post-game.

All proceeds will support the MFRC.

The North Bay Military Wives Choir will perform the Canadian and American National Anthems, followed by a puck-drop by the Wing Commander.

“We are honoured to continue our partnership with 22 Wing CFB North Bay and the Military Family Resource Centre, strengthening our long-standing relationship with the armed forces in our community,” said Dr. Kevin Wamsley, President and Vice-Chancellor of Nipissing University.

“This event is an important opportunity to recognize and support the families of those who serve, and we are proud to contribute to this meaningful tradition.”

The Military Family Resource Centre appreciates the continued partnership with the Nipissing Lakers hockey programs.

“This incredible tradition of Lakers military appreciation hockey games has raised over $42,200 for our Military Family Resource Centre over the past 16 years and we could not be more grateful for the support,” shared Tessa Clermont Executive Director, the Military Family Resource Centre.

“Last year will be hard to beat, as our jersey auction raised over 10k in 2024 with the special theme for the RCAF Centennial, but this year we have incorporated patches with the City’s Centennial logo and we hope these jerseys will be just as popular. Thank you to our sponsors and the community for continuing to support and attend these games; as a military spouse I know how much it means for members and families to be recognized and appreciated.”

The women’s game is set for 6 p.m. versus the Carleton Ravens this Friday, while the men will face the Windsor Lancers, with puck drop set for 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7.
