North Bay Selects U14 Girls golden in Gatineau

The North Bay Selects U14 Girls captured Gold at the 18th Annual Outaouais Soccer Tournament in Gatineau this past weekend.

The North Bay Selects U14 Girls captured Gold at the 18th Annual Outaouais Soccer Tournament in Gatineau this past weekend. 

The girls finished first in round robin play with two (1-0) wins and two (0-0) ties.  The goal scorers were Abbey Hubbard and Prezzley Hutchison. 

Despite a number of great opportunities to score, the final game ended in a 0-0 tie.  Haylie McAnaul scored on the fifth shot of the penalty shootout to win 3-1.  The other scorers in the shootout included Abbey Hubbard and Mya Madigan Aultman. 

This is the second year in a row that they have won the tournament in a penalty shootout.  Amazingly the team did not give up a goal in 5 competition games.  The team also had a great weekend off the field as well.  They were the guests of the Ottawa Fury at TD Place Stadium for Saturdays 2-0 Win over Toronto FC.  The players will have a week off before heading to Newmarket for the Heart of York tournament in August
