A group of four members from the North Bay U16 AAA Trappers and one defender from the North Bay U18 AAA Trappers have been named to the Team NOHA roster for the 2025 OHL Cup taking place this spring in Toronto.
U16 AAA Trappers forwards Owen Smith, Cedar Montreuil, Grady Dale join goaltender Bruce Laronde on the northern All-Star team made up of the best 2009 birth year players competing within the Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA).
Karter Buchmann, who plays for the North Bay U18 AAA Trappers, was also named to the final roster.
It was a long selection process coordinated by NOHA Technical Director Jacob Brown who holds the title as director of hockey operations with the team.
Powassan's Marc Gagnon, who was the director of operations for Team Canada East this fall, and is the general manager of the Espanola Paper Kings, was the director of scouting while Powassan Voodoos scout Dillon Anderson was on the Team NOHA scouting staff as well.
North Bay's Doug Sanders, who was head coach in 2024, is on the staff as an assistant coach.
The selection process started way back in August at the OHF Program of Excellence and then in September and October the All-Stars played some exhibition Great North U18 contests.
They also sent two teams to showcase tournaments; one in Komoka and the other in Bowmanville.
In February, the staff cut down the roster to 26 for a training camp in Powassan last weekend at the Powassan Sportsplex where the roster was cut down to 20.
"Team NOHA management is extremely grateful for all of the hard work and professionalism brought to the club by our entire Team Staff," said Brown in a release.
Team NOHA will represent The Northern Ontario Hockey Association at the OHL Cup, March 24-29 in Toronto.
