OTTAWA - Gord Cardwell and Knowlton Ridge Equestrian Centre were honoured with a number of top awards at the Eastern Canadian Thoroughbred Association Awards Banquet held on Saturday, April 9th, 2011 at the Irish Hill Golf and Country Club in Carp, Ontario just outside of Ottawa.

The first award was Grand Champion Line Horse 2010 to Sleek and Powerful a 10 year old broodmare sired by Sir Cat from the dam Little Marie. Sleek and Powerful is owned by KREC and was Reserve Grand Champion, Royal Agricultural Winter Fair (RAWF) 2010 and Grand Champion Mare RAWF 2009.

The second award was Reserve Grand Champion Line Horse 2010 to Crypto’s Luv, a 2 year old filly sired by Cryptograph from the dam Luvgetsmeeverytime. She is currently at Woodbine and should race by late Spring. Crypto’s Luv was Grand Champion Junior filly RAWF 2010.

The final award, the most prestigious award of the evening, was the Windsong Memorial Trophy - Owner and Breeder of the Year 2010 and was given to Gord Cardwell and Knowlton Ridge Equestrian Centre.

The award culminates an exciting 2010 year for Knowlton Ridge witnessing the expansion to a new barn in Orangeville Ontario and a number of Thoroughbred race horses at Woodbine Race Track in Toronto.
