The North Bay Savignac Major Bantam AAA Trappers completed a perfect first day at the Central Regional Championships with a convincing 4-0 win over the host Thunder Bay Kings on Monday night in Thunder Bay.

The win moves the NOHA champs to 2-0 after another convincing 6-1 win earlier today against the Fort Frances Canadians.

Joe Jordan opened the scoring for the Trappers for the lone goal of the opening frame.

The two teams were scoreless in the middle frame as the Trappers struggled getting only one shot on goal during a five-minute power play.

However, the Trappers offence got going early and often in the third period.

Cameron Pariseau made it 2-0 with a tally only 2:13 into the third.

Then the Trappers put it out of reach with two quick goals around the midway point of the period.

Nat Lalonde made it 3-0 at 7:29 and then Eric Lafontaine tipped in a Pacey Scheulting point shot past Kings goalie Connor Lemieux which made it 4-0 at 8:08 of the final frame.

Reece Proulx was solid in goal turning away all 22 shots he faced for the shutout win.

The Trappers are back on the ice Tuesday night when they face some tougher competition in the form of the York-Simcoe Express.  Puck drop is set for 6 p.m.
