The North Bay Granite Club is ringing in the New Year by kicking off their 75th anniversary celebrations.

The club’s anniversary falls in the same year as North Bay’s Centennial Celebration. “This is a unique opportunity for us to celebrate these historic milestones together,” says General Manager Laura Johnston. “Curling has had a positive impact on our community and truly is a sport for all ages and abilities. We are excited to invite the community to come and try curling and hopefully fall in love with our sport.”

A 75th anniversary committee is planning a year of celebrations including a one-day curling event in October, which organizers hope will include 75 ends of curling. A special limited edition anniversary pin will also be available.

Johnston says the Club is asking the community to share any pieces of curling memorabilia to be included in the celebrations.

“Pictures, pins, trophies, stories—anything related to curling in North Bay we would love to share as part of our historical displays.”

Those with items to share or anyone interested in sitting on the Anniversary Committee can contact the Granite Club at 705-472-6740 or by emailing Laura Johnston.
