A time tunnel.

Five faculty presenters will look 25 years into the future through the lens of their research.

Each speaks for just five minutes each, making for an accessible, fast-paced evening that’s sure to inspire some thoughtful discussion.  A question and answer session follow the presentations says a Nipissing news release.

Faculty speaking on November 9 include:

  • Dr. Renee Bedard, Assistant Professor of Native Studies
  • Dr. Nancy Black, Executive Director of the Harris Learning Library
  • Dr. Stephen Connor, Assistant Professor of History
  • Dr. Cindy Peltier, Chair of Indigenous Education
  • Dr. Mary Pat Sullivan, Director of the School of Human and Social Development

"This is the fourth NU2042 event, and the first three have been highly successful.  We’ve learned about human evolution, the future of literacy, the importance of social entrepreneurship, the potential for engineered eyes and brains, artificial intelligence, how we can combat human trafficking, what religion might look like in a quarter century, and the death of football," says the release.

"What will the world look like in 2042? What amazing new inventions will have transformed our collective reality? Who will be the global superpowers? Will we be able to breathe the air? Will earth be a garden paradise or a dystopian wasteland?"

NU2042 is part of Nipissing University’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

The event takes place Thursday November 9, at 7 p.m. at the Grande Event Centre at Main and Wyld in North Bay.
