École secondaire catholique Algonquin raised the Pride flag in front of the school on Monday, May 17th in recognition of International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

"The recognition of this day, which represents a celebration of identity, acceptance and love, is important to the Algonquin school community because it raises awareness of the differences and rights of every individual, whether a student, staff or visitor, who walks through the school doors," says a news release from the school.

"Raising the pride flag, which is permanently flown inside the school, is not only a sign that Algonquin is a safe space for all, it is also a way to demonstrate the School Board’s mission and vision as well as its values of inclusiveness, serviceability and excellence."

"At École secondaire catholique Algonquin, our ultimate goal is for every person to be respected, feel good, and be comfortable in their learning or work environment,"  stated Lucien Chaput, school principal.
