Poem: The World We Know

The World We Know

The world we know,

is coming to an end.

We now find ourselves,

at “just ‘round the bend”.

Wars raging in Europe

and the Middle East.

Now there is talk,

of unleashing the beast.

The beast if launched,

with its nuclear head.

Will leave little to do

and so much to dread.

WWIII will begin,

like none seen before.

There’s no turning back,

once the missiles do soar.

There will be no rebuilding,

on contaminated soils.

What was, now off limits,

to the victor no spoils.

Mother Nature herself,

has entered the fray.

Against her no defence,

as she has her way.

Snow in one desert,

a flood in the next.

Leaving many in awe,

as well as perplexed.

Hurricane after hurricane,

so late in the season.

While we know not why,

she does have her reason.

For us she provides,

her love not returned.

Her wrath will be known,

once we are scorched and burned.
