Ontario Public Library Week is October 14 to October 20 and these are the special events the Powassan & District Union Public Library are featuring for the week:

  • Monday, October 15 – 5:30 pm Tween Night: Zombie Barbies –  Are you over and done with your Barbie collection? No worries - it's time to repurpose your Barbies! Turn them into the creepiest toys around at Tween Night. $2 charge.
  • Tuesday, October 16 – Infinity Scarf Knitting Part 2 – Our goal is for you to leave the library with a fashionable, cozy scarf and a new skill!
  • Thursday, October 18 - 4:30 pm - Youth Literature Circle: Halloween - It's never too early to get into the Halloween Spirit! Join us for our YLC Halloween Party! Invite your friends to join us in telling spooky ghost stories and devouring candy... costumes are encouraged.
  • Friday, October 19 - 1 pm - Yoga - Back by popular demand is our free Beginners' Yoga with Cathy Rowe! The first session is on October 19th with Cathy returning each Friday at 1 pm. No experience required. All welcome. Free.
  • Saturday, October 20 – 1 pm - Saturday Series: Art It Up – We are thrilled to have our amazing summer student Breya Market-Matthews return to the library to host an art session! Breya's motto for this session is 'Art Rocks'... so, of course, she is incorporating a whole lot of rocks into the art projects! Pre-register at 705-724-3618.
  • Saturday, October 27 - 11 am - Fourth Live Auction at the Powassan Legion -  We're back with another Live Auction. This year, we're raising funds to support various library initiatives such as programming and nutrition programs. Join us at 11 am for viewing with bidding beginning promptly at noon. For more information or to donate an item or service to the auction, please contact Megan McIlvenna at 705-724-3618.
