NorthBay's Jack Garland airport is getting its grader replaced.
Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing—Timiskaming, today announced that $332,500 will be used to replace a grader.
This is in addition to $890,436 announced earlier this year to update essential airfield electrical power systems at the airport.
The funding comes from Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program.
“The North Bay Jack Garland Airport is a vital link for residents and businesses in this region," said Rota. "This project will help ensure continued safe airport operation for passengers, flight crews and employees, while contributing to the community’s economic and social well-being.”
“Today’s announcement marks another significant goal for the North Bay Jack Garland Airport Corporation’s strategic plan to rehabilitate its aging assets," Jack Santerre, Airport Manager, added. "The investment in these critical elements will strengthen the safety components while ensuring a reliable transportation system and continued support of economic development in Nipissing and the Near North.”
