The Powassan Voodoos have signed Aleksander Duguay from the Sudbury U18 AAA Wolves program, the team announced on Wednesday.

Duguay was on Team Green this past weekend during the Voodoos prospects camp at Pete Palangio Arena in North Bay.

Duguay was familiar with coach Peter Goulet and the Voodoos as he has been an affiliate player for the past two seasons with the club.

"They are a great organization and a great team always," said Duguay.

Notably, Duguay netted a hat trick in his last affiliate game with the Voodoos in a  7-5 win over the French River Rapids in the regular season finale on March 16.

"I have worn the jersey for about a dozen games now as an affiliate player the past two years but it is going to be an honour to wear it as a full-time player," he said.

"They are always a competitive team as they were finalists last year and I hope we can do more this coming season."

Duguay netted 19 goals and 30 assists for 49 points in 35 games with the Sudbury U18 AAA Wolves last season.

The 2006 birth year forward, who attended the Barrie Colts rookie camp in the spring of 2024, describes himself as a shifty forward with a good shot.

Peter Goulet, Voodoos' head coach, is looking forward to having Duguay as a full-time player in 2024-25.

"Alek has a great year with Sudbury, he was their captain, he learned a lot,” stated Goulet.

“He came into that French River game and scored the hat trick which is definitely my first time having an affiliate player come in and do that and affiliated with us for the past two years and has shown a lot of growth over the last couple of years and we are excited that he wanted to come play here and excited to have him join our team.”

Duguay will join the rest of his Voodoos teammates on August 22 for the start of main camp in Powassan.
