The North Bay Battalion will be hosting a unique Fan Fest outside Memorial Gardens on Sunday, September 8.

The event will start outside the front entrance of North Bay Memorial Gardens (weather permitting) at 10:30 a.m. prior to the Battalion contest which starts indoors at the Gardens at 2 p.m. as Scott Wray and the Owen Sound Attack come to town.

It will include prizes, a BBQ, music and a Battalion meet and greet.

Battalion officials say there will be special guests and a unique red carpet introduction to some local minor hockey players.

Another big winner of the Fan Fest will be the North Bay Food Bank through one of the fun events at Fan Fest. The team is encouraging fans to bring non-perishable food items to the Fan Fest.

"With Fan Fest having us included as part of their fun and games activities is really great," said Deb Marson, executive director at the North Bay Food Bank.

Marson and the Battalion are encouraging fans to bring non-perishable food items to the Fan Fest.

"So we're going to do food drive. So if you bring a food donation, you're going to get in for the big prize draw. If you bring five pounds, you're going to get an extra spin on the wheel of fun.

"So we're really looking forward to seeing everyone come out to enjoying the first little bit of what's new with the Battalion, what seems to be something that's going to be ongoing, and our partnership will continue throughout the season."
