Local dignitaries and CIBC employees launched their ‘think pink’ theme at the Main Street CIBC branch Monday as they prepare for the annual CIBC Run for the Cure Sunday, September 30th.

Mayor Victor Fedeli officially declared Friday, September 14, Pink Day in support of the bank employee’s continued goal to help raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer research.

It was truly fitting that MP Anthony Rota’s assistant Lindsay Furlong brought greetings on his behalf as Furlong has only just returned to work after fighting the Breast Cancer battle.

Marg Moody, Dianne Nicks and MPP Monique Smith also brought greetings. Moody reminded folks that the Ontario Breast Screening Program is celebrating 10 years of service.

“Breast screening does save lives and can save lives,” states Moody.

“If you are under 50 years old talk to your doctor and get a referral, if you are over 50 years old call 495-7930 and book an appointment.”

Nicks, a member of the Stockfish Ford staff representing Ford as a national sponsor, says she is part of the target group Moody identified.

“Nationally we have been involved with the run for about 15 years,” she explains.

“But it was when I got involved with Tammy and the Bank that I realized I was in the middle of that target group that needs to have a mammogram and perform regular self examination.”

Nicks also said that Ford is pleased to present the top fundraiser locally with the ‘Determination Award” and award the top fundraiser nationally with a vehicle.

Tammy Megginson, CIBC Run director says folks still have time to register for the run online at CIBC.com or by dropping by one of the local branches.

The run is a single-day event that will unite more than 53 communities across the country, locally the run will be held at the waterfront.
