It's that time of year again. Students are heading back to school and hitting the books.

The residence "move in" is scheduled for September 1 through until September 3. Both the college's townhouses, which hold 350 students, and the apartment style residence, which holds 146 students, are full to capacity.

A Welcome Barbeque will be held on September 1 from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Canadore President Barbara Taylor will be the head cook for the afternoon. Canadore Deans, Vice Presidents, office staff, residence assistants, Canadore Students Representative Council and frosh leaders will be on hand throughout the day to greet and help the students as they make their way to their new home for the academic year. Through years of experience, organizers have devised a practice whereby up to six volunteers help transport student items from their vehicles to respective residence rooms.

In addition to Saturday's barbeque, new students will be able to participate in activities such as the Bonfire Bash, dodge ball, a scavenger hunt and a water balloon fight.

This is a great time for students to become familiar with the college and their new roommates while staff help to make the transition from home to school life easier.
