This weekend, Memorial Gardens hosted the second annual Cottage, Home, Garden and Leisure Trade show.

The show featured over 30 vendors selling everything from hot tubs to beef jerky.

Ray Boyer of Thumbs Up Marketing, and creator of the trade show, explained attendance over this Mother’s Day weekend is low compared to the events opening year. The trade shows first year had over 4200 people visit, but Boyer believes this year’s attendance will be half of that.

“Maybe we are a couple of weeks behind, it should be done in April,” Boyer said.

“Next year we are going to advance it a couple of weeks.”

Boyer explained that the low attendance doesn’t get him down.

“It’ll just get better and better with every year,” he said.

John Borden, demonstrator for Super Shammy, explained that despite lower attendance, the trade show has been profitable.

“It hasn’t been really busy, but the people are very nice here,” Borden said.

He explained his business, based out of Midland, decided to open a booth at the show, because trade shows in North Bay have been a successful place to sell his product.

“I’m not going to get rich here this weekend, but it has been worthwhile.”
