MNRF fire crews are starting to get control over the challenging forest fire near Temagami that led to an evacuation call last Sunday.

Today, North Bay 69, which is the fire in question has now been updated to being held.

“Being held indicates that with currently committed resources, sufficient suppression action has been taken so that the fire is not likely to spread beyond existent or predetermined control boundaries under prevailing or forecasted conditions,” stated MNFR Forest Fire Information spokesperson Isabelle Chenard in a release.

Officials add that overall in the region, fire activity has been relatively quiet over the past couple of days, but it is expected to become more active as this cold front exits the Northeast.
