Laurentian Avenue will be reduced to a single lane and will be accessible from Trout Lake Road for ingress only starting Monday Aug. 31.

Road reconstruction there will last for about three weeks. The work is expected to be completed Sept. 18.

Traffic accessing businesses, including TD Canada Trust, Parker's Your Independent Grocer, and Northgate Shopping Centre, will be directed through the Northgate mall parking lot for egress onto the Highway 11/17 bypass, says a news release from the city.

The Ontario Municipal Commuter Cycling Program is supporting the project so it includes the addition of cycling lanes and "sharrows," shared lane pavement markings.

The existing sidewalk on Laurentian Avenue will be open for pedestrian use and bike lanes will be added to both sides for much of the street with sharrows, or on each end.

Laurentian Avenue is expected to be closed entirely for one or two days during the construction period.
