Someone left this boat trailer for someone else to clean up

While there are regulations about abandoning ice huts on the lake, we couldn't find anything about leaving your boat trailer behind
abandoned boat trailer
Someone is too lazy to take this trailer off the lake. Supplied.

We don't know why someone would abandon a boat trailer on a frozen lake, but the MNRF wants it off...and now before melting ice makes removal dangerous.

It's sitting on the ice near Sunset Park off Lake Nipissing.

"Near North Crime Stoppers and North  Bay Conservation Officers are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the owner(s) of a trailer found abandoned on the ice of Lake Nipissing at Sunset Park. Anyone with information on this illegal activity, or any other crime, is asked to contact Near North Crime Stoppers," states a news release.

It's this week's Crimestoppers "Crime of the Week."

While there are regulations about abandoning ice huts on the lake, we couldn't find anything about leaving your boat trailer behind.

Anglers had to remove their ice huts from Nipissing by the March 31 deadline.  Stragglers can be issued a ticket of $150 plus court costs. If it's more severe like they've burned it or are willfully trying to hide it the maximum penalty is $25,000."

If you can identify the trailer call 1-800-222-TIPS(8477) or submit your tip online at www.nearnorthcrimestoppers.com
