The new TV reality show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ has led to a resurgence in popularity for dance. Ontario is no exception and students from nine provincial high schools got caught up with dance fever this weekend at Widdifield Secondary School as they danced their feet off at the 6th annual “Dancefest 2008”.

Dancefest organizers say the festival was open to any organized group of dancers in the secondary school system in Ontario and their staff advisor, and that the festival provides an opportunity for educational development for students and educators.

The culmination of the last three days of competition will end Saturday evening with a public showcase performance at the Widdifield Theatre at 7pm.

The showcase will feature dance numbers from all 9 schools from around the Province followed by an awards ceremony where adjudicators will present their choice of outstanding performances from the weekend.

Tickets are available at the Widdifield Theatre and the cost is $5.00 for students/seniors and $8.00 Adults.

Curtain time is 7pm sharp.
