The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) released the current snow pack information for the North Bay area today as part of their Flood Forecasting and Warning Program.

"The recent snowfall led to increased snow depth and water content across the region," explains Susan Brownlee, Regulations Officer for the North Bay - Mattawa Conservation Authority. "In fact, the 62.5 cm of snow recorded at the Corbeil Conservation Area established a new record as the highest snow depth reading at that location since 1987!"

The NBMCA will continue with its bi-weekly monitoring of the snow pack throughout the winter and spring of 2009. Area residents and visitors are reminded that uniform ice thickness on area waterbodies should not be assumed. The public is advised to use extreme caution near lakes and rivers, especially near areas of flowing water.
