Shoplifting leads to assault charges

On April 21, 2008 at 09:55am a male was arrested by store security at a local retail outlet in the Northgate Mall for shoplifting 3 memory cards of a value under $5000.00.

Police were called and Cst. Christian Elia attended to find that the male in custody had resisted arrest, and had an exacto knife in his possession.

This male was eventually charged with Theft Under $5000.00, Weapons Dangerous, Assault Resisting Arrest, and Breach of Probation.

Michael Scott Belanger, 24-years-old, of Manitou Street in North Bay has been released on an undertaking with a court date of May 27, 2008.
