Search warrant results in drug charges

On Wednesday April 9th 2008, members of Project “Northern Gateway “ (a joint investigation between members of the Ontario Provincial Police and North Bay Police Service), with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at a North Bay residence.

Cocaine, Cannabis marihuana, and Oxycodone pills were located during the search. The seized drugs have a potential street value of approximately $1100.00.

Three persons have been charged.

CHARGED:

1. Daniel LAFOREST (dob 20Jul76) of North Bay. Held for a bail hearing on 10Apr08 in North Bay Provincial Court.

• Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (Oxycodone).

• Breach of recognizance, sec 145(3) of the Criminal Code (3 counts).

2. Andrew CARRIERE (dob 24Sep85) of North Bay. Released via Promise to Appear with conditions.

• Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (Oxycodone).


3. Amanda SPEEDIE (dob 18Mar79) of North Bay. Released via Promise to Appear with conditions.

• Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (Oxycodone).

• Possession of a controlled substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (Cannabis marihuana, cocaine - 1 count each).
