A proposed amendment to a traffic and parking bylaw was sent back to committee at Monday night’s council meeting.

The amendment, if passed, would restrict motor vehicles weighing more than one tonne from parking in residential zones.

The amendment was formed after the city received numerous complaints related to noise, and interference with traffic, caused by recreational vehicles, buses and transport trucks.

However, Councillor George Maroosis explained the amendment, which is intended to stop residents from using city streets as storage, would leave visitors in RV’s with nowhere to park in the city.

Maroosis suggested looking into permits that would temporarily allow RV parking.

If passed, parking vehicles, which weigh over one tonne, on the street would result in a $35 fine.
