Pot patrol out to get Yu

Almost 5,000 marijuana plants worth $4.5 million were seized Tuesday during a drug bust in the Burks Falls area.

Project Gateway, assisted by members of the Almaguin Highlands Crime Unit and North East Region Emergency Response team, execute da Controlled Drugs and Substance Act Search Warrant at a Burks Falls area residence that resulted in the grass being seized.

Officers executing the warrant were confronted by two dogs and a male subject upon entry to the residence. He was arrested without incident .

A tractor,plow,disc plow, ATV,double axle trailer,lights timers, pumps ,fertilizer and $1,200 in cash were also seized during the raid.

Ming Wu Yu, 40, of 85 James Camp Road, Ryerson Twp., has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking marihuana under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and production of a controlled sunstance under the same act.

The value of the offence related property is estimated at approximately $30,000 dollars.

Project Gateway is a joint investigation between the the Ontario Provincial Police and the North Bay Police Service.

The marijuana plants have been destroyed.
