The list of high-profile television and movie stars who have done productions in the North Bay area continues to add up.

In recent years, North Bay has become a buzzing hub for the film industry, attracting big-name celebrities and earning the nickname "Hollywood North."

Multiple movies have been filmed in the downtown area, drawing attention and excitement from locals.

In the spring of 2023, renowned actors like Bryan Cranston and Allison Janney added to the city's star-studded atmosphere.

In 2017, Jerry O'Connell was given a key to the City of North Bay for all his interaction in the North Bay area which included singing the national anthem at a North Bay Battalion game and even appearing as a guest referee at a local wrestling event

In late June, Vic Fedeli, Nipissing's MPP, sat back with North Bay Mayor Peter Chirico and told a crowd from the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) about the secrets to economic success when it comes to working with the film industry.

Fedeli admits he cannot pinpoint his favourite North Bay film moment rubbing elbows with the Hollywood elite in North Bay.

"There have been a pile of them," said Fedeli.

"Sitting with James Brolin in a cabin in Corbeil and talking for what seemed to be forever was very memorable. Seeing Brooke Shields over and over and over again when she was doing Flowerpot Mysteries, we would chat with each other on the sets week after week, month after month and as it turned out year after year.

"Those were always fun, I would see her at the airport in Toronto and we would be on the same flight to North Bay and we would sit together and those were fun opportunities.

Who is your favourite movie star who has worked in North Bay?

"Seeing Bryan Cranston here, he is probably one of the more senior actors who we have watched in a lot of productions. Having met him and having multiple conversations over the weeks that he was here was rewarding personally," he continued.

Fedeli has even gotten to know actress Danica McKellar and even gotten her to send videos to his fellow cabinet ministers with her saying Vic is the top cabinet minister in the province.

"Seeing Danica McKellar, you know Winnie from The Wonder Years. Everyone knows her and we have a lot of fun when she comes here," said Fedeli.
