North Bay – Officers from the North Bay OPP cluster were conducting RIDE in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 6th, 2008, just east of North Bay on Highway 17, when a the driver of a tractor trailer produced a forged driver’s licence.

Further investigation lead to the tractor trailer being impounded for a period of 45 days as a part of the Vehicle Impoundment Program (VIP) as the driver, George FOBERT, was a Prohibited Driver from a previous Criminal Code conviction.

Driver, George FOBERT, 45 years old, of Welland, Ontario was arrested and held for a bail hearing Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 at the North Bay Court House on Plouffe Street in North Bay on the following charges:

• Utter Forged Documents s.368(1)(a) c.c. (Criminal Code) on three (3) counts;
• Obstruct/Resist Peace Officer s.129(a) c.c.;
• Drive Disqualified s. 259(4)(a) c.c.;
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000 s. 354(1)(a) c.c.; and
• Personation with Intent - Intent to gain advantage s. 403(a) c.c.

FOBERT remains in custody and is rescheduled to appear in court on Friday, May 9th, 2008.
