The annual North Bay Police Services bicycle and property attracted the attention of dozens of people looking for a good deal Saturday.
Anyone interested in purchasing a used bicycle came to the right place. Roughly 85 bikes were up for grabs.
“I bought a bike for my daughter, and I’m looking for a couple other bikes too. I think this is awesome. I love auctions, but I’ve never been to a police auction before. It’s exciting. It’s a little intense, but it’s exciting,” laughed Bonnie Thur.
Jason Sanderson gave the auction items the once-over, looking for something of interest.
“I think it’s great that it’s all going to a good cause. It’s fun. You always find some treasures.”
Money raised from unclaimed auction items go to the North Bay Police Service Board which donates the funds to local charities or events.
The items have been collected over the past year.
“There’s a lot of different items here, everything from tires to bikes to portable barbecues and tools. Some of these items are found property, or stolen property that’s not returnable, we can’t find the owners, and that’s the majority of the stuff that’s here,” explained Sarah Bush exhibit clerk.
On average, the police auction raises around $3,000.
