HIGHWAY 11 COLLISION – A THIRD CAR INVOLVED
NORTH BAY OPP SEEKS PUBLIC ASSISTANCE

(Powassan, On) – Powassan OPP is asking public assistance in helping police with regards to a two vehicle collision that took place on Friday May 26th, 2006 on Highway 11 at the Highway 654 cut off, Callander, Ontario. A third vehicle is being sought.

On Friday May 26th, 2006 at approximately 4:15 p.m., a white 2003 Mack Tractor Trailer travelling north bound on Highway 11 was following a gold mid-sized vehicle. They were on the single lane construction section of the highway at the Highway 654 cut off. This vehicle started to turn on the ramp to exit, than suddenly veered back in front of the Tractor Trailer. The Tractor Trailer jackknifed as a result. A south bound grey 2000 Chev Impala collided with the Tractor Trailer. The driver of the Impala, a 71 year old female from North Bay, was treated and released from the North Bay General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The gold vehicle continued north bound without any damage. Police had to close north bound traffic for approximately two (2) hours to clear the wreckage.

Police are seeking witnesses and or information regarding the gold mid sized vehicle (possible a Honda Accord) that did not remain at the scene. Police are continuing their investigation.

Police would like any one with information regarding this incident to please contact Constable Shawn Fougere of the Powassan OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or the Near North Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
